Corrections Policy
Last updated: June 10, 2026
Our Commitment to Accuracy
FireShield Wildfire News is committed to publishing accurate, timely, and reliable information about wildfires and related emergency events in Southern California. When we make errors — whether in human-written or automated articles — we correct them promptly and transparently.
How to Submit a Correction
If you believe an article published on FireShield News contains a factual error, please contact us:
- Email: news@fireshieldwildfire.com
- Subject line: “Correction Request — [Article Headline]”
- Include: The URL of the article, the specific information you believe is incorrect, and any documentation or sources supporting the correction.
We review all correction requests as quickly as possible. For breaking wildfire news, we prioritize corrections that affect public safety.
How We Handle Corrections
- Minor corrections (spelling, grammar, or minor data discrepancies) are corrected silently with an “Updated” timestamp.
- Significant factual corrections are noted in the article with an editor's note explaining what was corrected and when.
- Major errors that substantially change the meaning of an article may result in the article being retracted or substantially rewritten, with a prominent correction notice.
Response Time
We aim to acknowledge correction requests within 24 hours and resolve them within 48 hours. For urgent public safety corrections (e.g., incorrect evacuation zone boundaries or fire containment data), we prioritize same-day resolution.
Automated Content Corrections
Because some of our content is generated using automated systems, data errors from our source agencies can occasionally appear in our articles. We take automated content corrections especially seriously. If our automated systems published incorrect fire acreage, containment figures, evacuation zone information, or other critical data, we will correct it immediately and investigate how the error entered our pipeline.
